Hydrogen will be a powerful enabler of the transition towards net zero, it provides a clean, secure, and flexible energy future.
Today, momentum around hydrogen is culminating in groundbreaking infrastructure that is set to take hydrogen from the planning stages to full scale facilities. Despite this, a number of challenges persist that prevent the acceleration of the hydrogen economy.
NPL has published a report that showcases the measurement challenges faced by the industry throughout the entire hydrogen value chain.
What is in the report?
This report showcases the current and future challenges in four different sections of the hydrogen economy; production, storage, distribution and end-use.
To identify these measurement needs, NPL has engaged with UK based industrial stakeholders through its Industrial Advisory Group (IAG) and an online survey. This was combined with information from interviews, meetings, the views of NPL’s scientists and other authoritative reports to generate a robust list of challenges.
The report also details the work NPL has conducted to support industry in the form of case studies for each of these sections.
