For people, place, prosperity and planet, we deliver impact with measurement science

Ali Al-Sikab

Ali Al-Sikab

Higher Scientist

Ali’s contributions to electrochemistry and hydrogen technologies begun in the Netherlands, where he completed advanced R&D into electrocatalyst design at Leiden University under the tutelage of Marc Koper. He is also a graduate of Imperial College London with a first-class honours MSci degree. Since then, Ali has worked as a hydrogen technologies scientist at NPL aiding in the development of advanced electrochemical techniques to help in the commercialisation and development of hydrogen technologies.

Areas of interest

Ali is an experienced scientist with a strong electrochemistry background. His work at NPL has focused on cutting edge research into the impacts of impurities in hydrogen and air on PEMFCs. As well as this, Ali leads the work into investigating quality control of fuel cell and electrolyser components using interfacial contact resistance measurements.

Ali uses his hydrogen technology and analytical experience to contribute towards developing NPL's hydrogen strategy. He has led the coordination of the latest NPL Hydrogen Energy Transition Report.
