This event is a key milestone in advancing Particle Minibeam Radiotherapy (PMBT), an emerging technique that has the potential to revolutionise cancer treatment.

About PMBT
PMBT is a cutting-edge approach that differentiates itself from conventional proton or ion therapies by spatially fractionating the particle beam into "minibeams" - small sub-beams separated by narrow gaps.
This unique technique aims to deliver precision treatment to cancer cells while minimising harm to surrounding healthy tissue. PMBT offers the possibility of more targeted, less toxic treatments for cancer patients.

The workshop
Building on the success of previous workshops, the 3rd International PMBT Workshop will serve as a crucial platform for advancing PMBT research, fostering collaboration, and moving closer to clinical implementation. Hosted by the National Physical Laboratory (NPL)—the UK's National Metrology Institute—this workshop is perfectly positioned to leverage NPL's expertise in establishing international standards for emerging radiation therapy techniques. Sister workshop: PPRIG 2025
Immediately following the PMBT workshop, the 7th Proton Physics Research and Implementation Group (PPRIG) workshop will be held on 20 and 21 March 2025. PPRIG focuses on translating proton physics research into clinical practice, making it an excellent complement to the PMBT event. More information about the PPRIG workshop can be found here.
