Proton Physics Research and Implementation Group (PPRIG)

We are pleased to announce the 7th Proton Physics Research and Implementation Group (PPRIG) will be held at the National Physical Laboratory on 20 and 21 March 2025.

Started in 2012, the aim of this group was originally to bring together interested parties to bid for research funding collaboratively and establish a programme of work to drive forward proton therapy related research. The two-day event provides an excellent networking opportunity for academics, industry, and clinical staff to have discussions within the relaxed leafy suburb of Teddington, southwest London. The workshop will include invited speakers, debates, group discussions, conference talks and poster sessions.

This year the workshop theme is Translating research into the clinic.

The theme will be reflected throughout the programme of talks and discussions to identify the current barriers and facilitators to enable research to support clinical challenges. This will involve talks and workshop discussions on topics, such as navigating regulations for novel medical devices and software, in additional to validation and translation of new planning and delivery techniques in the clinic.

Attendee feedback from previous PPRIG conference (2023)

‘’The meeting was absolutely fantastic. I really appreciated the update talks and the focus on current practices or recent implementations.’’

‘’An excellent meeting and really good for the UK proton community. I thought the length of talks was good and plenty of breaks for catching up with people - I thought this was a good balance. Nice invited talks and good mix of topics with opportunities for young researchers balanced with experience from more established researchers in the radiotherapy community. Very well organised - well done. I would be happy to support with this in the future.’’

’Well done! Looking forward to the next!’’
