Following the successful launch of the first international Dimensional X-ray Computed Tomography Conference at NPL in 2016, NPL partnered with the Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), University of Warwick, who hosted the second DXCT Conference in July 2017. The conference brought together industry and academic professionals to share knowledge within the field, explore developing requirements of industry and gained insight from experts.
Nearly 100 delegates from across industry and academia attended the conference to discuss the latest developments in dimensional XCT.
With nine exhibitors, twelve high-quality oral presentations and six informative posters, a wide range of topics were covered throughout the day's four main sessions:
-
Acquisition and process methodologies
-
Industrial development and application
-
Applications of CT measurement
-
Accuracy and standardisation
Industry and research institutes in attendance included: BAE Systems, Jaguar Land Rover, Dyson, AWE, Rolls-Royce, GE Oil and Gas, National Composites Centre and the Natural History Museum.
This year, the conference was also accompanied by pre-conference workshops, with up to 40 delegates learning about science, technology and software useful to those working in Computed Tomography. NPL led a seminar giving a short introduction to coordinate measurement, which explored the challenges posed by modern technologies facing metrology engineers and outlined NPL's training opportunities. Avizo and Synopsis also ran hands-on workshops to both new and experienced users of their software.
