Vasundhara Tyagi is a Higher Scientist in the Surface Technology Group at NPL. Her research interests include characterisation methods such as Raman spectroscopy to study drug formulations and drug delivery to biological tissues. Previously, Vasundhara was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bath and worked as a visiting researcher at NPL to study cutaneous pharmacokinetics of skin products using stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) microscopy.
Vasundhara received her PhD from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at University of Geneva (Switzerland) for which she received the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship for Foreign Students. Her work focused on electrically assisted and formulation-based drug delivery methods to improve local bioavailability of active pharmaceutical ingredients to the oral mucosa. After her PhD, she worked as a scientific communication specialist at Weber Shandwick, Switzerland for leading pharmaceutical companies.
Vasundhara graduated with a Masters in Nanotechnology from Amity University, India and finished her master’s thesis at the Swiss Federal Institute of Material Sciences (Eidgenössische Materialprüfungs- und Forschungsanstalt; EMPA) working on the fabrication of electrospun polymeric fibers. Previously, she completed her bachelor’s internships at the Translational Research Institute (Australia) and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (India).
