Junqing Jiang

Junqing Jiang

Scientist

Junqing obtained his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering with a minor in biomedical engineering at McGill University in 2021. He then stayed on to obtain his master’s degree at McGill in 2023. During his master's degree, he designed and built an oblique plane microscope (OPM) which is a variation of light-sheet microscope particularly suited for tissue engineering. Junqing tested it with various biological samples, including brain organoids, placenta spheroids and tissue-on-a-chip models.

After completing the master’s degree, Junqing joined the Biometrology group at NPL in 2023 to continue working in the field of light microscopy. At NPL, he is responsible for the use, maintenance, and development of all fluorescent microscopes in the Biometrology group. These range from super resolution to large-scale 3D tissue imaging and live imaging to cryo-preserved sample imaging. In addition, Junqing is actively working on developing 3D fluorescent test targets for correlative imaging that provide both resolution and structural information.
