Benyam joined NPL in December 2021 as a Scientist in the Quantum Information Group. His current research interests are in single-photon technologies, primarily working on metrology and standards related to single-photon generation and detection.
Prior to this, he was awarded a MSci Physics degree from Imperial College London where he completed his project thesis on photon-pair generation using nonlinear processes.
Benyam also leads outreach at The Blackett Lab Family C.I.C, an organisation which aims to promote Black representation at all levels in physics within the UK.
