Cyrus started his career as a Nuclear Physics researcher, completing an EngD at the University of Surrey and University of Manchester in Nuclear Physics and Engineering, specialising in Isotope production, fission product cross sections and standardisations, as well as actinide chemistry.
Since joining NPL in 2011, Cyrus has been a Senior Research Scientist, focusing on medical and environmental isotope production, nuclear decay data and radiometric measurements of various isotopes. As well as leading the Nuclear Metrology group Measurement Services Portfolio.
In 2017 Cyrus was seconded into the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology as Head of Industrial Strategy and Supply Chain in New Nuclear, where he was responsible for working on the supply chain guidance plan for new nuclear as one of the outputs of the Nuclear Sector Deal.
Most recently as Strategic Business Development Manager, Cyrus has responsibility for a multi-million pound portfolio of business for both the nuclear and space sectors and is the NPL strategy lead for the TRUTHS (Traceable Radiometry Underpinning Terrestrial- and Helio-Studies) mission.
Currently, Cyrus manages key accounts including; European Space Agency (ESA), UK Space Agency (UKSA), Sellafield Ltd, United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) and the National Nuclear Laboratory (NNL).
