Andrew focuses on future communications strategy and the wider digital sector. He has previously held leadership roles in the Electromagnetic Technologies and 5G department, responsible for delivery of a portfolio of complex projects and people management. He has programme management and stakeholder management experience, delivering government policy as a contract manager for part of the UK’s National Metrology System.
In 2018, he undertook a part-time secondment to the 5G Testbeds and Trials team in the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), helping with the 5G programme and providing specialist advice on health aspects of 5G. Andrew has jointly led the development of the Future Networks Initiative (FNI) with industry partners, helping to define the longer term strategic need, the business model and the benefits, and has engaged extensively with industry, across government and with academia at senior levels.
Andrew has a first-class degree in Physics from the Loughborough University of Technology, and a PhD from University College London in Fast Waveform Metrology. He is a Chartered Physicist, has co-authored over 25 publications, and chairs a European committee on high frequency metrology.
