Jean-Luc Vorng received his PhD in Chemistry from the Université de Rennes 1, France and entitled “synthesis of molecular probe for multi modal and multi-scale imaging”. His previous work was focus on the design and synthesis of molecular probes for Raman spectroscopy imaging and NanoSIMS, and their applications in cells imaging. He is interested in SIMS and its potential applications in biological imaging and pharmaceutical science. Jean-Luc joined the Surface & Nanoanalysis Group at NPL in 2015, working on the study of matrix effects in molecular and biological models and their influences on these systems. His current research area are chemical imaging and characterisation of complex biological material using OrbiSIMS (ToFSIMS 5 Hybrid SIMS). His focus is also link to pharmaceutical industry (e.g. GSK, Smith&Nephew) in supporting their R&D program through consultancy project and implementing SIMS metrology to pharmaceutical science.
