George Koutsourakis obtained his MEng degree in Applied Physics from the National Technical University of Athens (Greece), followed by an MSc in Energy and Environment at the Physics department of University of Patras (Greece). He acquired his PhD (Electronic and Electrical Engineering) in the area of photovoltaic device characterisation and metrology at Loughborough University, through an iCase award project with NPL.
George joined NPL in 2017. His work focuses on improving photovoltaic and optoelectronic device testing standards and the development of novel characterisation techniques for characterisation of solar cells and other optoelectronic devices. George has developed several novel characterisation techniques utilising digital light processing and compressed sensing. George is active in multiple standardisation activities in the area of photovoltaics, from testing and reliability of emerging devices such as perovskites solar cells, up to large scale PV system monitoring and assessment.
