Professor David Littlejohn is the Philips Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Strathclyde and an Advisor to the Principal. He retired as Executive Dean of Science and Associate Principal in August 2018 having served 4 years in these roles. Prior posts included Associate Deputy Principal – Research (2010 – 2014) and Head of the Chemistry department (2005 – 2010). Professor Littlejohn was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry in 1991 and Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 1998.
He was a co-founder (in 1997) of the Centre for Process Analytics and Control Technology (www.cpact.com), which is a multi-disciplinary industry-university consortium of 28 companies and 10 University and Research Institutes. He is the University’s representative on the Boards of CPACT, the Digital Health and Care Innovation Centre (DHI), and the Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC). He is also a member of the NPL Joint Working Group that reviews and develops the Partnership between Surrey, Strathclyde, Department for Science, Innovation and Technology and NPL. Professor Littlejohn has published widely on various topics in analytical chemistry.
