Chris Barker

Higher Scientist

Chris Barker joined NPL in July 2023 as a Higher Scientist in the Quantum Materials group. His research focus at NPL is around developing the capabilities of the LLE group to perform electrical transport measurements as well as measuring ferromagnetic resonance.

Chris is a physicist and graduated from Durham University with an MPhys (Hons) in 2019, before studying for his PhD at the University of Leeds. Chris’ previous research interests have included materials growth for spintronics applications with an extensive focus on a range of magnetic microscopy techniques.

Chris is a member of the Institute of Physics (IOP) and the Materials for Quantum Network (M4QN) and has presented his work at conferences internationally. He has published his work in well-respected international journals, including Physical Review B and the Journal of Applied Physics.
