Catherine Quinn is a non-executive Director on the NPL Board as well as Chair of the Remuneration Committee.
Catherine has worked in leadership roles for over 20 years in a career that has crossed sectors, from research, science and innovation; to professional services, training and education; and national institutions.
From the late 1990s, she directed Oxford University’s research-related services, where she led on development of the University’s Intellectual Property policy and was closely involved in the commercial licensing of IP and spinning out of some of Oxford’s early science-based companies.
From Oxford, Catherine went to the Wellcome Trust to carry out a transformation of its grant-giving operations, which was followed by implementing a modernisation programme for centuries-old Middle Temple as its Chief Executive. By this time, designing strategy and leading organisational change had become her focus. After 7 years in London, she returned to Oxford University as an Associate Dean and Chief Operating Officer to work on a major transformation of its Saïd Business School, where she had earlier completed her MBA. Before switching to a portfolio board career in early 2020, she was appointed to the role of Private Secretary to support the development of an official strategy for a senior member of The Royal Family.
In addition to her role with NPL, Catherine is also a Non-Executive Director on the Boards of CPI Ltd and the Copyright Licensing Agency, and she is a Trustee of The Royal Academy of Dance. She is a non-governing body Fellow of Wolfson College, Oxford.
