Arzu Arinc

Arzu Arinc

Senior quality lead

Arzu received a degree in Physics and Chemistry from the University of Besançon in 2000 and a Master’s degree in instrumentation and nuclear, spectroscopic and chemical analysis from the University of Strasbourg in 2001. In 2002, she joined the Radioactivity group at NPL, working initially on environmental gamma spectrometry and international proficiency test excercises. She has since specialised in liquid scintillation counting techniques and the evaluation of nuclear decay data. Her more recent roles have involved the design and implementation of a new defined solid angle alpha counter for high precision primary standardisation of alpha emitting radionuclides for medicine and nuclear forensics. At present Arzu has taken on the role of group Quality Manager and is responsible for maintaining the group accreditations to ISO 17025 and ISO 17043.

Areas of interest

  • Liquid scintillation counting for measurement of pure beta and alpha emitting radionuclides
  • Evaluation of nuclear decay data, in collaboration with the Decay Data Evaluation Project (DDEP)
  • Defined solid angle alpha spectrometry system for primary standardisation of radionuclides
  • Implementation of ISO 17025 and ISO 17043 standards
