Alex Browning

Alex Browning

Scientist

Biography

Alexander completed his 4-year integrated masters at the University of Bath in 2014, with a focus on novel photonic crystal fibre physics and fabrication. In 2016 Alexander started a collaborative PhD program between NPL and the University of Surrey. His PhD research focus is photonic and optoelectronic properties of single-photon emitters in novel Graphene like 2D materials.

Areas of interest

  • Quantum emission from atomic scale defects in 2D materials
  • Novel approaches to deterministic placement of room temperature single-photon emitters in 2D materials
  • Optoelectronic and photonic properties of 2D heterostructures studied by SPM and spectroscopic techniques
