NPL Scientist Gustavo Trindade awarded UK Surface Analysis Forum Vickerman Prize

NPL scientist awarded prize for his work in the National Centre of Excellence in Mass Spectrometry Imaging and OrbiSIMS metrology

NPL scientist Gustavo Trindade has been awarded the Vickerman Prize by the UK Surface Analysis Forum (UKSAF) after his talk about novel OrbiSIMS measurements and metrology at UKSAF’s summer 2022 meeting held at the Henry Royce Institute in Manchester. The award is given to scientists whose work is anticipated to have a major impact in the field of surface analysis.

The accolade is given in recognition of high-quality independent research by an early-career scientist.

The award is named after John Vickerman, the founding Chairman of the SIMS (Secondary ion mass spectrometry) Users Forum.

Of the award, Gustavo Trindade, NPL Senior Research Scientist said: Over the years, I have seen the Vickerman Prize being given to some brilliant scientists whose work inspired me, which makes me feel very honoured to receive it this year. I really hope the work we are doing with NPL’s OrbiSIMS will continue to impact the surface analysis field as well as wider communities.
