Senior NPL Fellow Professor Gareth Hinds has been awarded the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IOM3) Gold Medal for his significant contribution to the assessment of corrosion and material degradation in a range of energy applications.

Gold-Medal-(1)edit-(1).pngIOM3 is a professional engineering, environmental and scientific institution that supports professionals globally to be champions of the transition to a low-carbon, resource efficient society, by promoting sustainability and greater circularity in the extraction, processing and use of natural resources.

The award was presented by IOM3 President Kate Thornton during the 2024 IOM3 Awards Day, which was held on Thursday 5 December at the Institute's London headquarters.

Professor Hinds said: “I’m honoured and humbled to receive this award from the Institute and would like to acknowledge my NPL colleagues and external collaborators whose outstanding contributions made this possible.”
