Gavin Sutton, Principal Scientist in the Temperature and Humidity group at NPL, has been awarded the Institute of Physics’ (IoP) highest level of membership (FInstP) in recognition of his contribution and impact in temperature measurement metrology.

Gavin is currently leading NPL's work in harsh environment thermometry, developing measurement techniques and instrumentation in luminescence phosphor thermometry

As an IoP Fellow, he will be an advocate of the IoP community and support others to develop the experience and expertise needed to contribute to the future of physics and strengthen the voice of the IoP.

Gavin Sutton, principal scientist, said: “I greatly appreciate the IOP’s acknowledgement of my contributions to temperature measurement metrology. I look forward to continuing my work on novel thermometry methods and to supporting the work of the IOP.”
