James Claverley, Head of Government Relations at NPL, has been appointed to the board of AIRTO, the Association for Innovation, Research and Technology Organisations, the foremost membership body for organisations operating in the UK’s innovation, research and technology sector.
James joined NPL in 2008 as a scientist, with his scientific research centring on the use and development of contacting probes and optical systems for micro-co-ordinate metrology. He participated in, and led, several UK and EU projects focusing on metrology for micro-manufacturing.
James moved to the Government Relations team in 2021 and now leads the department where he is responsible for NPL’s relationships across Government and other key public sector partners, including the UK’s other measurement labs and the members of the National Quality Infrastructure.
James Claverley, Head of Government Relations, said: “I am delighted to take up this position of Member Director on the Board of AIRTO. NPL has been a prominent member of AIRTO for many years and I have seen, first hand, the value that the Association brings to its member – such as joint learning, networking and collective engagement, and sharing of best practice. I look forward to sharing my expertise with the AIRTO Board, learning about the common challenges our members face, and working as part of a team to support our members in the innovation, research and technology community.”
