NPL has launched Measurement for Business (M4B) to give you access to our specialist measurement science and engineering experts and facilities, at no charge, to help your business grow. 

NPL’s expertise can accelerate your product or service getting to market. Our measurement experts can give confidence in your data, opening doors with potential investors. 

To be considered for M4B you must:

  • Be a UK registered SME at Companies House
  • Have a product or service that is pre-market
  • Be within your Minimal Financial Assistance allocation (previously referred to as Special Drawing Rights) of less than £315,000 of government funding over a rolling three-year financial period
  • Have a measurement problem that can’t be solved by routine measurement and test services available commercially from NPL or other suppliers.

Applying is quick and straightforward

M4B is currently open to application from Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) who fit any one of the criteria below​:

  • SMEs developing Sensors and Instrumentation
  • Any sector within Greater Manchester and Yorkshire region (please view the list of eligible postcodes)
  • SMEs developing semiconductor technology
  • SMEs developing green technology
  • SMEs developing and applying EngBio technologies.

Sensors and Instrumentation

For SMEs developing new sensors, instrumentation and measurement systems who need help with characterisation, development and verification of new concepts.

Semiconductors

For SMEs developing technology in compound semiconductors, emerging new semiconductor materials and advanced packaging who need help with characterisation, process control, quality, and performance assessment.

For SMEs developing green technologies including renewable energy, alternative fuels, carbon capture, long-term energy storage, future grid, air quality measurements, emissions monitoring, built environment solutions (heat pumps, storage, building envelopes etc.) and carbon accounting.
